Project 1:
Data Conversion (PDF to Excel)
We received a
volume of PDF files (till date more than 30,000 files); these PDF files
contain Company information, their product name and product codes among
many other information. Mostly these PDF documents are that of Chemical
companies and seem to be data submitted to a certain government or some
kind of regulatory body.
Our job was
to enter certain fields in to a MS excel sheet. The fields are that of
the company name, product name, product code etc... & dates
mentioned in the files.
We assume
that this work has something to do with a directory/trading portal
targeting chemical manufacturers and suppliers.
Project 2:
Online Data Entry
We are
provided with a URL and username/password; on accessing we are shown a
image file and in parallel to the image files we see matching fields to
enter the data shown in images. The fields are that of the
people’s first name, second name, and contact details and so
on. The image files resemble a typical survey sheet.
Our data
entry operators enter the data directly online. Thus this project is
treated as a online data entry work. The domain of work seems to relate
with “Survey data processing”
Project
3: Data Conversion (PDF to Excel)
We are
provided with a volume of PDF files that contain specification for
Electrical maintenance works. Our job is to copy the information from
PDF files in to Excel files and format the content to resemble as
closely as possible with the original source files. The complication of
the project is with the formatting work. When you copy data from a PDF
files, you lose the proper formatting. By formatting we refer to the
numbers and bulleting, heading fonts, indenting and emphasis styles
etc…
Project 4: OCR
& Data Conversion, Data Processing
We are
provided with a volume of image files; the images are that of scanned
hand written pages and content seems to be that of a book. We use
Optical Character Reading (OCR) software to read the characters from
the scanned images and do cross verification of with actual spellings,
sentences etc… in the image and process the read characters
in to a .html file format. This type of work seems to involve
conversion of books in to web pages and is ideally classified as a
“Data Conversion Project” & in the case,
data being a book of some sort; a more specific keyword is
“Book Conversion”
Project 5:
Directory Data Processing (Image files to MS Excel)
We are
provided with a list of scanned images from a directory book. The
information available in the directory is as expected contains the
names and contact information of people. Our job is to enter the names,
complete addresses & contact numbers, email id in to a database
format i.e. either MS Access or MS Excel files and do a quality check
on the data entered and submit. The nature of client is assumed to be a
directory portal which is gathering information from existing
directories and uploading the digitized data back in to a database
driven system.
Project 6:
Directory Submission Work
We are
provided with the task of identifying business directories online and
registering the clients company information online. Approx 4000 domain
specific web directories have been mined in the websites using search
engines by our staff and registration completed. The task also includes
submission of marketing advertisements when available for free.
